A Revit family category that lives only in 2D views - tags, symbols, title blocks - and never appears as 3D geometry in the model. It's the counterpart to a model family: a door tag, a level head, and a north-point symbol are all annotation families, scaling with the view rather than existing at real-world size in 3D space.
