A defined point on an MEP family where it can link to another element - a pipe's connector meeting a fitting's connector, carrying flow and system data across the joint. It's what lets Revit auto-route a duct or pipe run and validate that a system is actually continuous - two elements that look connected in a view but don't share an actual connector aren't really joined at all.
