A procurement approach where the contractor joins the project during design (rather than after it's complete), contributing buildability and cost input before drawings are finalized. ECI tries to capture some of Design and Build's early buildability input while keeping the client's own design team in control - the contractor reviews the developing model, flags constructability issues (see Constructability) early, and often firms up pricing before the client commits to a fixed-price contract.
