A bond a contractor can provide instead of having cash Retention withheld from payments, freeing up their cash flow while still giving the client financial security. Instead of the client physically holding back 5% of every payment, the contractor's bank or insurer issues a bond covering the same risk - the contractor keeps full cash flow through the project, and the client can still call on the bond if defects go unfixed at the end of the Defects Liability Period.
