Breaking a project down into a hierarchy of smaller, manageable pieces of work - the standard scaffolding a schedule and a budget are both built on. Uniformat and Omniclass are essentially standardized WBS structures for building elements - which is exactly why a well-built BIM model's own hierarchy so often lines up with the project's cost and schedule breakdown too.
