The UK-originated equivalent to LEED - a green-building assessment method (from BRE) covering energy, health and wellbeing, materials, waste, and land use, with ratings from Pass up to Outstanding. BREEAM dominates UK and many international projects the way LEED dominates North American ones, and the two are frequently mentioned together as the two most recognized systems worldwide.

Like LEED, BREEAM does not mandate BIM, but a well-modeled, data-rich project makes assembling the evidence a BREEAM assessment requires far faster than compiling it from scattered spreadsheets and drawings after the fact.
