A chain of related linear dimensions in Revit placed and aligned together as one continuous run, rather than as separate, independent dimension lines. Adding or removing a witness line from an existing dimension string automatically keeps every other segment aligned - manually placing the same number of separate dimensions almost never lines up as cleanly.
