Setting a project's true real-world position - latitude, longitude, and true north - so the model sits correctly on a map and its solar and shadow studies calculate accurately for its actual location. Revit's Shared Site feature lets multiple linked projects agree on one common real-world anchor, which matters on large multi-building sites or infrastructure projects spanning a wide area.
Geolocation and shared coordinates solve related but different problems: shared coordinates get models to agree with each other, geolocation gets the whole project to agree with the real planet - both need to be right for a model's sun studies, site context, and GIS integration to actually mean anything.
