An XML-based format for displaying geographic data, originally built for Google Earth, still widely used to share simple location and site-boundary data. It's a lightweight way to share "where is this site" with someone who has no GIS software at all - just Google Earth - unlike the richer, more structured data LandXML or CityGML carry.
