Checking a completed as-built model against the real, physical building - usually via a laser scan or photogrammetry survey - to confirm the model actually matches what was constructed. It's the quality-control step behind the whole scan-to-BIM and as-built process: a point cloud is overlaid on the as-built model, and any deviation beyond an agreed tolerance gets flagged before the model is signed off and handed over.
