BIM's usefulness doesn't end at handover - a well-structured Asset Information Model, populated via COBie or similar, feeds directly into facilities management software so building owners can track assets, plan maintenance, and manage space without re-surveying the building. It's the single biggest reason large owners mandate BIM on their projects in the first place.
