A model or drawing marked S2 ("suitable for information") is very different from one marked A2 ("authorized for construction") - suitability codes make that distinction explicit and machine-readable instead of relying on a filename or an email saying so. They're what actually moves a piece of information between a CDE's WIP, Shared, and Published states.
