Asset management thinks in decades, not project milestones - maintenance schedules, replacement cycles, energy performance, compliance inspections, all tracked against the actual physical assets a facilities team is responsible for.

Where BIM traditionally focused on getting a building built, the growing overlap between BIM and asset management (through the AIM and standards like ISO 19650's part 3) is what turns a one-time model into a long-term operational tool instead of a file that gets archived the day the building opens.
