The native CAD/BIM file format of Bentley Systems' MicroStation, roughly the Bentley-ecosystem equivalent of a DWG or RVT file. On infrastructure-heavy projects (rail, highways, utilities) it's common to find DGN files alongside RVT and DWG ones, since Bentley's tools are especially strong in that sector - IFC is usually the neutral bridge between the two ecosystems.
