The document that starts every BIM project. The EIR is written by the client (employer) and defines exactly what information they need from the project team - in what format, to what level of detail, and at which project milestones.

Think of it as the client's BIM brief. It covers:

• What software and file formats are required
• What Level of Development is expected at each stage
• How information should be named and organized
• Who is responsible for delivering what

Everything in the BIM workflow flows from the EIR.
